Safety of bioelectrical impedance analysis in patients with cardiac implantable electronic devices: A systematic review.

Clinical takeawayThe evidence base is small and mostly pacemakers, so this is reassurance, not clearance: device labelling and local policy still restrict BIA in patients with pacemakers or defibrillators. Where BIA is wanted for nutrition assessment in such a patient, discuss with cardiology rather than assume safety.
What it foundNo electromagnetic interference or adverse effects on CIED function were observed in 866 BIA measurements across frequencies from 5 to 500 kHz.
ContextChallenges longstanding recommendations against BIA use in patients with CIEDs due to electromagnetic interference concerns.
No standard claimed for this paper

Every paper is compared to the standard governing its question. This one is not: either no standard in the corpus matches it, or the comparison did not hold up on review and was withdrawn rather than published unverified. Both are logged.
