Clinical takeawayNo change in practice: monitor pediatric UC with fecal calprotectin, CRP and endoscopy. Plasma LBP, a proxy for intestinal permeability, correlated independently with endoscopic and histological activity in UC and fell after induction therapy, but no cutoffs exist and no routine assay is available.
What it foundPlasma LBP correlated with endoscopic and histological disease activity in pediatric UC (beyond CRP and IL-6) and decreased after induction therapy (corticosteroids in UC, anti-TNF or EEN in CD vs baseline).
ContextThis study provides new evidence supporting LBP as a biomarker for intestinal permeability and disease activity in pediatric IBD, particularly UC, refining current monitoring practices. Further validation in adult populations is needed.
No standard claimed for this paper

Every paper is compared to the standard governing its question. This one is not: either no standard in the corpus matches it, or the comparison did not hold up on review and was withdrawn rather than published unverified. Both are logged.
